After a scorching summer break, school is back and so are the busy mornings.

It can be hard to juggle work and home life when you need to fit in the school runs, and get everyone out the door on time. So here’s some easy and nutritious breakfast ideas to help manage those hectic mornings and set the whole family up for a great start.

Overnight oats or homemade smoothies are a great time saver in the morning as they can both be made the night before. There’s lots of recipes online but my favourite for overnight oats is to use oat milk, mixed with organic rolled oats, a few blueberries and pumpkin seeds. Leave in the fridge for a lovely creamy pudding-like texture the next morning.

Breakfast doesn’t need to be complicated to be nutritious. Even a simple natural yogurt topped with berries provides a powerhouse of high-quality protein, probiotics, anti-oxidants and vitamins and will set everyone up for an action-packed morning.

If you do opt for a warming bowl of porridge, then try and avoid the ready-made versions as these are often full of sugar. Instead, mix 30-50g of rolled oats (preferably organic) with 150-200ml of milk and heat on the hob for a few minutes until it reaches the desired consistency. Again, top with berries for added nutrients and a pop of sweetness. The berries can be added straight from the freezer and will thaw in a few moments in the heated porridge.

I will be posting some more meal ideas on here soon so keep an eye out for them coming your way.
